ALOHA EVERYONE! Your host for Ohana 2016, Sr. Professor Herb LaGue, having an adaptive and progressive mind set in the world of martial arts, has openly embraced and implemented the ground breaking inclusion of a national level Sports JuJitsu Tournament at this years event. This proposal was introduced by Professor Richard Bunch President of JuJitsu America whom will be hosting Ohana in 2018. On Feburary 19th of this year a Sport JuJitsu Summit meeting in Sparks Nevada was held. Many of you receiving this email were in attendance. At that time, after deep contemplative and constructive discussions, it was unanimously determined and agreed that the FIRST BIANNUAL OHANA SPORTS JUJITSU NATIONAL TOURNAMENT will take place in 2016 at the NUGGET RESORT in SPARKS NEVADA on JUNE 19th commencing directly after 9:00AM PST FORMAL BOW IN. THE FINAL DATE OF TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION IS JUNE 18th, 2016 at 5:00PM PST. WEIGH IN BEGINS AT 8:00AM PST SUNDAY JUNE 19th, 2016. The entire Bushidokan International Federation community are fully engaged in learning, becoming certified judges and training in Sports JuJitsu in order to ensure a successful event. Many attended the judging certification clinic in San Bruno Ca at Coach Willy Cahill’s dojo and we are having a competition training clinic combined with judges certification training and practice the first weekend in June at the Sparks Bushidokan Temple. This is being conducted by Professor Bunch. The Bushidokan Federation and Ohana 2016 organizers are grateful to have the vast experience and necessary equipment required in the hands of Coach Cahill and Professor Richard Bunch as well as all of you receiving this email. We are confident that with your support and leadership that this tournament will be an EPIC event. Senior Professor Herb Lague has ordered that a special one of a kind custom set of 300 collector grade award medals be created to commemorate OUR Ohana 2016 Tournaments and Event. THE SUCCESS OF THE SPORT JUJITSU TOURNAMENT PRIMARILY DEPENDS ON THE NATIONAL SPORT JUJITSU COMMUNITY AT LARGE. The Bushidokan International Federation and the Ohana 2016 administrators do not have access to your infrastructures. Therefore the communication must come from key members and figureheads in the Sport JuJitsu community. I take full responsibility for not having the foresight to bridge this gap sooner. I have comprised a simple list of action items that those interested in participating can follow in order to feel comfortable registering and attending. PLEASE utilize your leadership positions to construct an email containing the following steps listed below and send them out as soon as possible. Please also keep in mind the confidentiality clause at the end of my email. Only the steps listed below combined with event details are intended to be shared. The information regarding tournament award medals may assist with the decision to attend. 1) Go to danzanryuohana.org Please be patient waiting for the interactive tournament registration and clinic course attendance function to come on line sometime this week. Our Webmaster, Andy Flagg, is working diligently on a highly sophisticated and intricate program putting the highest internet security measures in place to protect our site and everyone registering to our event. In closing I wish to express that having met many of you just recently, after being involved in Danzanryu JuJitsu for 47 years, I find a common instant bond with all of you that can only be best described in the Hawaiian term Ohana. Should anyone have any specific questions, suggestions or are willing to assist in the event itself please feel free to contact me at my email address or at register@danzanryuohana.org. Additional focus emails will follow. Mahalo,

via Tumblr http://ift.tt/1ToNVRr This year the Kwanmukan voted an annual dues of $25. This is required of all black belts, shihan or sensei or otherwise and is also available to black belts who do not currently practice but would like to maintain their connection with their martial arts training. Additionally, we are looking into what we can provide as part of the membership. One suggestion is a t-shirt, another a patch. What do you think we should provide for the annual membership? Finally, we will be getting the ability to pay the annual membership on-line but this is a few months out. Please pass this information to other students, black belts or not. Please remit your annual dues to Kwanmukan c/o Brian Pendleton 3257 Forrestmeadow Drive Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio 44223.. Thank you. Patrick M.
