Our History
United Martial Arts® is not an organization but a collection of martial arts rich in history. The United States Karate Association was the first karate organization in the United States (1946). The USA Karate Federation was at one time the National Governing Body for karate in the United States and is still involved in the Olympic Karate movement. The United States Jujitsu Federation had its beginnings in 1972 as did the Central Taekwondo Association. The Changmookwan and Kangdukwon represent two of the founding organizations of the Kukkiwon in Korea. Many of these organizations and groups stem from the activities of Hanshi George E. Anderson (deceased) one of the most well-known American martial artists in the world. The US National Karate Association and Jujitsu America, USA Traditional Kodokan Judo are active and respected traditional martial arts organizations.
