information for registration
There are three different competitions included as part of this competition. They are Karate, Jujitsu and Judo. Both Karate and Jujitsu will include kobudo and self-defense competition based on the rules of the three respective associations - USA Karate Federation, US Jujitsu Federation and USA Traditional Kodokan Jujitsu.
The below information should help you in deciding how to compete.
General Notes
Each event Karate, Jujitsu and Judo is a separate competition with separate rules and entry fees.
All entries are submitted after registration by video but in advance of the tournament cut-off of December 19 at 8 am pacific standard time.
All events will be a one round point system. You may upload two kata - one for the division and the other in case of a tie. Kata videos may not be ones already used in a competitive event. Age of any couple or team event is the age of the oldest competitors. Sex may be combined in all couple or team competition. Depending on final entries, we reserve the right to add or combine divisions as we believe best in our opinion.
Karate Kata including kobudo and self-defense will be judges based on the WUKF criteria. based on age of the oldest person on the team. Team members may be all one sex or a combination of sexes. The WUKF rules are available on their website. Our categories may be different from the ones in their rules, however. Please note that for certain divisions competition is by style. You are welcome to compete in more than one style. For team kata events, age is the age of the oldest team member.
KUMITE Kata is a new event. Entries will consist of 2-2 1/2 minutes of non-stop free-fighting. While it will follow the format of kata competition, it will be judged based on how well both partners perform their kumite using the scoring criteria used in international kumite competition but include the concept of tai sabaki. That is, each fighting pair will be judged on a point system similar to kata to determine which couple performed the best free-fighting. We are adding this division to have some sort of fighting technical competition in the Covid-19 era.
Jujitsu Competition - Jujitsu Competition will include Duo Competition, Jujitsu Kata, Jujitsu Self-Defense and Kobudo and be judged according to the Rules of the USJJF available on their website. For all couple competition, the age of the oldest person will determine the division. Couples may be male/male. female/female, or male/female.
Judo Kata - We will use the rules of the IJF but please note we are recognizing 7 different kata and scoring each as a separate division. Age will be determined by the oldest person in the couple.
Para-Competition is available in all three - karate, jujitsu, and judo - competitions.
